I must say, the initial response we have received has been quite amazing.  Our families seem to have accepted the fact that this is really happening.  It didn’t feel awkward to talk about going to Guatemala and it was exciting when we got a chance to talk about it.  We are extremely thankful for the support and encouragement we have already received from our friends and family.  We are truly blessed to have such a loving and enthusiastic support team, especially since we haven’t even given a presentation yet!

This is our next big step in the adventurous purpose God has called us to: presentations.  We have been using our school break to start working on our presentation, since we normally have to write papers and give presentations for school, we figured we should take advantage of the break as much as possible.  I must say, the research for our presentation has been a bit overwhelming.  It appears the statistics for Guatemala that we have been hearing are old news and the current stats are much worse!  This is yet another affirmation that God has revealed to us that we are truly on His path for His purpose.

I’m also adding another page to our blog for prayer requests.  We thought it would be appropriate to keep a running list of prayer needs and praises throughout our journey.  I think this page should also be used for any prayer requests any of you might have, whether it’s related to our mission or not, it is all for the Glory of God.  We’d like to ask you check this list regularly as we intend to keep it up to date as our needs change and as God answers our prayers.  Here are our current prayer requests:

That God guide us as we prepare and practice our presentation.

That He will remain faithful to His calling upon our lives by providing the resources necessary to fulfill our mission.

That He speaks through us as we speak to others not only about our mission, but also about the Gospel.

That He emboldens us with His Truth to combat the lies of the enemy who seeks to destroy us and God’s plan.

That He strengthens us more every day in His Word as we work towards our goal in Guatemala.

That He develops in us perseverance to withstand any opposition we may face.

We have already witnessed a few people answering God’s call to join us in His vision for Guatemala.  We are truly blessed to have a God so wonderful to raise support before we even ask!  It is no doubt that He truly knows what is on our hearts and He is faithful beyond measure.  As we begin to build our team of support: prayer, financial, and otherwise, we invite you to join us in God’s vision to transform an impossible situation with the power of a very possible God.  Just by signing up for our newsletter, following our blog, or even checking in occasionally to support us through our prayer requests…let me rephrase that…ESPECIALLY by praying for us, you are not only encouraging us but you are adding another smile to God’s day.

On another note, I’d like to ask that you let us know what your prayer requests may be.  Regardless of how mundane or inconsequential you may think they are, Missy and I always welcome the opportunity to pray for someone; it is just as much a blessing to be able to support you in prayer also.  This isn’t just about us praying for someone, but it’s about our preparation.  By praying for you we get to exercise our prayer lives and THAT is going to be our biggest asset of all.  As we get closer to carrying out and realizing God’s vision, the opposition will increase and the spiritual attacks will grow more frequent and intense.  It is through a habit and reliance on powerful prayer to our Almighty God that we will be able to fend of the opposition for His Glory.  As the Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians, “6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
