Our car is our main method of transportation.  Not only do we put a lot of miles on it, but the extreme road and weather conditions (it rains for 6 months out of the year) mean that parts like shocks, brakes, and tires get worn down quickly!  We have found a great mechanic that lives nearby and is always on call to help us, but we find we have to call him often.  Our goal is to have money on hand for the instances when something breaks or needs to be replaced.  Additionally, we know that eventually we will have to buy another car!  This vehicle was purchased as part of our start-up costs for moving to Guatemala and we were able to purchase it by selling our two vehicles we had in the US.  We recognize, however, that when the time comes to purchase another car we will not have that luxury unless we start raising money for when that time comes now.
