Just a week after language school, we are already hosting our first team!  Does it sound as crazy to you as it does to us?  Some of you know we have been preparing for this (it’s not a surprise to us, but still mindboggling).  Servants, Inc. is sending down a team of 8 to Serve At Risk Families with us.  We will be working with 3 families in Villa Nueva, Guatemala and helping them with some repairs to their homes.  They will also be helping us paint the inside of our house, since our house will also serve as Servants’ temporary ministry center in Guatemala until they are able to build their own.  The team will be keeping an updated blog during their trip at: http://sarftrips.blogspot.com/. Be sure to keep up and see how they are improving the lives of others through hard work, sacrifice, and sharing the love and truth about our amazing savior Jesus Christ!

Apolonia's husband passed away a few years ago and has been struggling to provide for her 3 children. The team will be helping repair their roof as it has begun to cave in and has many leaks which causes many problems during the rainy season which consumes almost half the year.

Carmen, pictured here in her "open" kitchen, works 12 hours a day to support herself and her son's family of 6 who occasionally is able to find work. The team will be repairing part of their roofing as well as adding a wall and door to her kitchen.

The team will be helping Emilia and her family by also repairing her roof which is caving in and leaks. they will also be repairing her door so it can be properly locked when they are not home to prevent robbers from taking what little she has.

Please keep us and the rest of the team in your prayers for guidance in our projects, safety during our work, protection from illness, and most of all that the families we will be working with learn more about how much Jesus loves all of us and wants every bit to be a part of our lives despite our outward circumstances.  We are truly blessed to be able to serve God in this way and want to make sure that His glory is our foremost goal.
